Volkswagen Polo Ad
Ok, I realize that this is SOOOOOOOOOOO wrong. On SO many levels. And I understand that many people will find it inordinately offensive. But it's still the funniest thing I think I've ever seen. Check out this ad for the Volkswagen Polo!

Don't Believe the Truth
But this you must believe: the new Oasis cd (entitled as above) is AMAZING! (Way to go, mom) It rocks, in the very real sense of the word. If you're looking for the Beatles reincarnated, go out and buy this cd as soon as possible. No really - it sounds exactly like the Beatles (may have something to do with the fact that Zak Starkey, their drummer, is Ringo Starr's son...) The cd is fabulous - I love absolutely every song on it, but especially Part of the Queue, Lyla, and God Must Think I'm Abel. Mom likes Let There be Love, which is also a good song. I'm so into British rock these days, what with Coldplay AND Oasis out with new stuff. GOOD stuff. Me = smiling.

Harry Potter VI
Sucked. No really, I was very unimpressed. It was just kind of ridiculous. The writing was really poor too - it seemed really disjoint. I think this is the worse one in the series so far.

A Lovely Weekend Home
I retreated from the heat of our nation's captial this weekend on a journey home to Buffalo (who ever thought I'd go to Buffalo for good weather?!?! Oh, the irony...). It was a lovely visit (at least, after that whole my-plane-got-delayed-2-hours-cuz-US-Airways- is-a-worthless-piece-of-sh*t-and-then-taking-off- in-the-middle-of-a-thunderstorm-with-lightening-going-everywhere.). We had a birthday party for Nana on Saturday night, so I got to see a lot of the Fam, followed up by a delightful breakfast the next morning with more Fam (mmmmmm, good food, mom). All in all, it was a splendid trip, if too short. It was really good to be home. And not just because the weather was mild and cool and pleasant and wonderful and everything that DC ISN'T this time of year...

I'll be home again in a fortnight, but only for a quick pit-stop before going back to school. (BTW - Currently undergoing Stuff Reduction Procedures; such procedures, however, may be somewhat offset by the endeavor to acquire a french press for coffee and a real tea pot with strainer for real tea leaves...)

Meyhane
Last week, Caitlin (roomie) and I went to this amazing Turkish restaurant called Meyhane (May-han-ney). It's a beautiful place, well-decorated, but subtlely. It has these big huge doors at the front of the restaurant that open up onto the street. Very Mediterranean. Great food, decently priced - we got hummus and this amazing yogurt-spinach dip, as well as these zucchini fritters. Also, at happy hour (which, at this place, lasts from 3 to 11!!!) they have half priced bottles of wine, so we got this great bottle of pinot grigio. It was a very lazy, relaxing, Euro-style dinner. WAY too cultured/cosmopolitan a restaurant to be on Capitol Hill in DC. It was lovely!
