Spring Fling and the End of All Things
Tuesday was Spring Fling - the day-after-classes-end-drunken-revelry-with-a-moderately-famous-band event on campus. It was so much fun, like a Big-Kid carnival actually. We had those big giant blowup thingeys that you jump around in, pie throwing at various deans and masters, a dunk tank, cookout, etc. Student bands played early in the afternoon and then Third Eye Blind played at like 3. We stayed up in the suite for the concert - we had THE most perfect view of the stage from our common room widow, so we celebrated up there with the 12-pack of Corona that Abigail bought :) It was tons of fun!
Last night we went to the Senior show for my favorite comedy group on campus - the Ex!t Players. Their seniors are AMAZING, and I'm really afraid they're gonna suck next year without them. SUCH a great show! They have this one number where they play jeopardy with a bunch of terms the audience throws out, ex: "Can I get the question to the answer: A Greatful Dead Concert in Vichy France.", etc and then the "contestents" make up the question. It's hysterical! Really witty, intelligent humor. All my favorite people are leaving the group . . .
Today is a bit sadder. I just got out of my last class of my freshman year. It sucks, I wanna find the rewind button. French was one of my fav classes this year - Ngame is an incredible professor, and I was so sad to say good-bye to him. C'etait vraiment triste. Je vais le manquer beaucoup. I'm really depressed right now.

The Spider Ball
Last night was the JE formal - officially known as the Spider Ball (cuz our mascot is a spider). It was really cool - and I loved that even though they had a DJ pumping the ghetto beats for a while, they also had a live jazz band (I asked them to play "Beyond the Sea" and they did!). I wore the strapless ivory prom dress with the gold stitching and the small train (the look on his face when I came out of my room was priceless!). And - bless his heart - he brought me roses! And they're absolutely spectacular roses too, I might add - blooming in a way that defies gravity. What a sweetheart . . . We had a really good time together - he's fun to dance with.
Then I just went to work at the library today, and then started my EU term paper. It's coming along really well. I wrote a page and a half single spaced (it's gotta be like 15 pages 1.5 spaced), and I wasn't even really trying all that hard or working with a great deal of concentration. I have a whole week plus a day or two, so I'm writing it leisurely - it's almost fun - and making sure I'm listening to some good music while doing so (rocking out some film scores from iTUnes right now - currently the Matrix, to be more specific.) And now to bed . . .

Another Fabulous Day of Life at Yale
The past few days were really exciting on campus because it was Bulldog Days, when all the pre-Yalies came to check out the campus. Our two pre-fresh were really nice, and it was fun to show off the school to them. What a perfect couple of days - gorgeous weather, all the trees and flowers in bloom, students everywhere playing frisbee and volleyball - it was awesome. Yesterday was especially good. I got an A on my English paper from the prof that I had all but abandoned the idea of getting an A from, we won the IM field hockey championship in a come-from-behind-overtime-win (I had the game tying goal, deflecting a free hit from the top of the circle)(Nick had the misfortune of walking across Old Campus just when I returned from the game, and I was so excited I dropped all my bags, ran across the grass, and tackled the poor kid - I think I scared him - in field hockey gear and everything!), and we celebrated an amazing Saybrook concert with an evening at Mory's with the orchestra (the really yuppity private Yale dinner club). It was just a fabulous day. Getting ready for the final push, but it really shouldn't be as bad as last semester. I really only have an English paper and my EU research paper left in my way. And this weekend is the highly exclusive JE Spider Ball (thanks for Fed-EXing the dress, guys!).

Long Time No Blog
Sorry. Life has just been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much fun lately :) Me mum and Aunt Patti and Aunt Rosemarie came to visit today - it was great having them here! They also got to meet The Boy (oddly enough, we became officially official last night, having had "The Talk" about the status of our relationship). And - surprise, surprise - he won the "Mom Seal of Approval" (having won the "Best Friend Seal of Approval" last month). We had a lovely dinner at Istanbul Cafe - good food, good company, what more do you need?
I've been workin' hard at this final research paper for my EU class - I'm writing on the EU as a postmodern state (Robert Cooper's theories) and the idea of new imperialism, particularly in Africa. I'm actually kinda having fun doing it. Plus - Howorth agreed to be my faculty advisor next year - hoooooorrraaaayyy!
Tomorrow is our final Saybrook concert of the regular season (with one, post-season rendition of Tchaik 5 impending), it should be fantabulous. And then on Monday, we get to host 2 prefresh for Bulldog Days!

Australian Ambassador to the UN
I went to one of the best master's teas yet today - Saybrook hosted John Dauth, the Australian ambassador to the UN. He was so cool (loved the accent!) and had a lot of really interesting things to say. He gave his opinions on institutional reforms for the UN, and spoke highly of Kofi Annan (denouncing the embezzlement accusations against him as "scadalous" and saying he hoped Kofi would get to sue those making them). The best phrase I can think of to describe him is "subtly brilliant". It was a really informative talk (as opposed to the one given a couple months ago by the Swiss ambassador to the UN - I thought he was gonna slip into a coma . . .), and totally reinforced the things we've been discussing in my EU seminar! I actually knew what he was talking about!
Have to go move my laundry to the dryer now . . . 3 loads - my laundry basket was collapsing under its own weight . . .

Cool Dispatch Lyrics
"Don't worry 'bout a thing
You know your path is true
Just ease your mind
Have a banana or two."
- Bang Bang
"I have a crazy idiosyncrasy:
It's affinity for seredipity,
And in this eternal epiphany,
No hypocrisy or duplicity."
- Bats in the Belfry
